There was a good article on deep stops in the May issue of Dive Training magazine (p. 30-38). Was written for recreational divers but contained good background on how deep stops became popular and the research behind the current recommendations. The Winter 2010 issue of Alert Diver (DAN's magazine) also ran an article (p. 38-41) on the topic but I didn't find it as useful.

Mark

(Of course, deep stops are incorporated into many of our deco tables and computer algorithms but for recreational no-decompression-stops-required dives one recommendation is 2 1/2 minutes at half the max depth AND the standard 3-5 minutes at 15 feet.)

Original post blogged on b2evolution.
